The California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), San Jose Silicon Valley Chapter awards scholarships every year to outstanding accounting students.
In 2014-15, the award was presented to Samantha Elpern, who is majoring in business management economics with an emphasis in accounting. She was awarded $1,500.
Bob Shepherd, a recently retired accounting lecturer with the Economics Department nominated Samantha for the award. Samantha plans to use the award monies for tuition next fall quarter.
