SIGFIRM: Sury Initiative for Global Finance and International Risk Management
The Sury Initiative for Global Finance and International Risk Management (SIGFIRM) addresses new challenges in global financial markets. Guiding practitioners and policymakers in a world of increased uncertainty, globalization and use of information technology, SIGFIRM offers new insights into the tradeoffs between risk and rewards through new techniques and analytical methods. SIGFIRM was founded through a generous seed grant from Sharath Sury, a University of California, Santa Cruz alumnus and highly successful wealth management expert.
SIGFIRM is affiliated with the University of California, Santa Cruz, Department of Economics and also draws strongly from UCSC’s Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The initiative seeks to bring together UC researchers with practitioners and policymakers to solve real-world problems of finance, including risk management, robust tools for financial decision-making, and policymaking in a globalized financial system.
