On May 15-16, Distinguished Emeritus Professor Carl Walsh presented “Lessons for the Federal Open Market Committee’s Monetary Policy Strategy” at the 2nd Thomas Laubach Conference held at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. The aim of the conference was to solicit input from academic economists as the FOMC, the Fed’s monetary policy committee, reviews its strategic policy framework. Walsh was invited to write one of the six papers presented at the conference. The presenters of the other five papers included former Fed Chair Ben Bernanke and academics from MIT, Princeton, Berkeley, and the London School of Economics.
