Robert J. Shepherd Economics Accounting Path Scholarship
The Robert J.Shepherd Economics Accounting Path Scholarship is an award of distinction in recognition of high academic standing in the advanced accounting curriculum and overall academic merit achieved by economics majors. The award was established in honor of Teaching Professor Emeritus Robert Shepherd.
Robert Shepherd is a Teaching Professor Emeritus of Accounting and CPA who developed the accounting path and directed the accounting program for the Economics Department at UC Santa Cruz. Bob taught undergraduate, intermediate and graduate level accounting courses to over 17,000 students for the department from 2004-2015. He is the recipient of the 2011 and 2001 Excellence in Teaching Award issued by the UCSC Center for Teaching Excellence; the 2011 Universal Design of Instruction Award, issued by the UCSC Disability Resource Center; the 1991 Golden Apple distinguished teaching award issued by the UCSC Social Sciences Division; and a two-time recipient of the Favorite Professor Award from the UCSC Alumni Association, and the 2015 CalCPA Outstanding Accounting Educator Award for his breadth of accounting instruction, educational inspiration and mentorship.
This award was established in 2015 by Kristi Shepherd Patterson and Thomas Alan Patterson. Spring 2017 marks the inaugural awarding of the scholarship .
