Economics Field Study Program
Economics Field Study Program
- Upcoming information session on Zoom Friday Jan 27, 2023 - Sign up here
Economics field study program is available every quarter for students to earn academic credit while working in an internship in the community and to earn credit for the Practice: Service Learning (PR-S) general education requirement here at University of California, Santa Cruz.
Economics field study program provides students with a practical context in which they can start to integrate course material into work experience. Students work in a setting where they are trained and supervised by a professional in the business or organizational setting of their field study experience.
Students are partnered with a faculty member of UC Santa Cruz Economics Department. This faculty sponsor provides guidance and encouragement to help the student blend knowledge and skill acquired in economics courses with the training and experience they receive in the field placement. The outcome is a final project/paper determined and developed with the student and sponsor together.
- UC Santa Cruz economics field study program earns academic credit for graduation, but does not count for credit earned for your academic major requirements.
- Economics field study program is offered for credit as pass/no pass only.
