UC Santa Cruz Economics Field Study Program

Economics Field Study Program

Economics field study program provides UC Santa Cruz economics students with a practical context in which they can start to integrate course material into work experience. Students work in a setting where they are trained and supervised by a professional in the business or organizational setting of their field study experience.

Economics field study program is available every quarter for students to earn academic credit while working in an internship in the community and to earn credit for the Practice: Service Learning (PR-S) general education requirement here at University of California, Santa Cruz.

You must apply and participate in the quarter before your field study begins, so plan ahead!

  • The application period for summer 2024 field study program has closed. If you already have secured an internship for summer, please contact econintern@ucsc.edu.

Student requirements to be eligible for field study

  • Junior or senior standing (by the time you start your internship)
